Alfan’s journey with data began in the year 2005 with a small certification course in Excel during his graduation. Since then, he’s been captivated by Excel’s vast applications, dedicating over a decade to exploring its depths. Working as a business analyst and project manager at some of the top MNCs, data became an integral part of his daily life, shaping his professional journey and expertise.
Throughout his corporate career, he was dedicated to training and helping his colleagues master Excel. During his free time, he further extended support by offering training sessions to students and professionals, free of cost or a nominal fee.
The founder of Rows & Columns, Mohammed Alfan, is an Indian author and data enthusiast. He has been titled the MVP of Microsoft twice, in 2022 and 2023. With more than 15 years of expertise, he has trained over 100,000 people in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Tableau, including individuals, companies, and educational institutions.
Rows & Columns was launched in April 2020, during the pandemic. YouTube was the first platform where we created Excel-related content and was overwhelmingly supported and accepted by the audience. Gradually a vibrant community was born through social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube.
A few months later, Alfan made one of the toughest decisions of his life, quitting his job to become a full-time educator and trainer. It was a leap of faith, but his passion gave him wings.
Data is the future, and sharing this knowledge can open doors to better job opportunities and improved livelihoods. We have tutorials designed for those who use Excel, PowerBi, and Tableau at work and want to enhance their proficiency. We not only provide solutions but also inspire experimentation, creation, and sharing within the community.
Alfan’s book, “DATA ANALYTICS for Beginners – Pivot to Rescue,” reflects his desire to share his insights with the world, offering a practical guide for those starting their data analytics journey. This book was designed with simple language and an understandable presentation to simplify the concepts to its readers. The book boomed the online platforms like Amazon and was made part of the syllabus at Madras Christian College, for its peculiarity and clarity of the subject. This book has also been made a reference book at Ajman University as a part of their MBA program
